Former MTV reality show star Kirk Medas is currently in critical condition after being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Medas, best known for his role on the reality series Floribama Shore, has been hospitalized for over two weeks battling a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis.
The alarming update was shared by former co-star Aimee Elizabeth Hall on Instagram, who revealed that Medas has been in the intensive care unit (ICU) and is currently on a ventilator. “Our friend Kirk has been in the ICU for over two weeks now, battling a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis,” she wrote. “He’s currently on a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious.”
Necrotizing pancreatitis is a rare and dangerous condition where inflammation of the pancreas leads to tissue death, often requiring intensive care and long-term treatment.
Hall also revealed that Medas does not have medical insurance, prompting his mother to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his growing medical expenses.
While it's unclear whether Medas had any prior health concerns, the sudden and severe nature of his current condition has shocked friends and fans alike. Fellow Floribama Shore alum Nilsa Prowant has reportedly been visiting Medas regularly, and other friends and roommates have been keeping the rest of the cast updated.
Medas, 33, appeared in 25 episodes of Floribama Shore between 2017 and 2020. The show, a spin-off inspired by Jersey Shore, followed a group of young adults navigating friendships and summer adventures in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Supporters are rallying behind Medas and his family during this difficult time, hoping for his recovery.
